Ukulele Sides

Pure Timber manufactures Cold-Bend™ tonewoods that can by bent cold, by hand, without steam to make the sides of stringed instruments. Sold under the trade name PURE TIMBRE™, luthiers can fabricate instruments with walls that are much thicker, and easier to bend than using conventional bending techniques. Using thick sides helps transmit sound to the instruments sound board, rather than letting the sound slip away sideways. Adding kerfing when building with Cold-Bend™ hardwood is optional, since the thicker walls offer a wide flange for adhering the top and bottom of the instrument.
